A company with deep expertise in software, electronics, and mechanical engineering wished to outsource development of a new product line that was outside the scope of their core technology offering.
Project Details
Application is counter-top chemical-safety- interlocked FDM (3d-printing) support-material chemical removal ‘dishwasher’ to be used with alkaline ‘soap pods’. The electronic controls were designed by WED for Stratasys in response to a request from HP. Stratasys would OEM these support-removal devices for HP. The product was marketed overseas and never made it to the US.
Client
A well-known industry pioneer in 3D printing for many decades that specialized in both selling 3D printing equipment and supplies but also in providing FDM rapid-prototype and medium scale manufacturing of printed housings and objects to a broad range of manufacturing sectors.
Software Development
Cypress PSoC, Dynamic AC Thyristor Phase-angle or zero-cross heater control for 1200W resistive silicone heater, 120V Three-phase variable-frequency-drive (VFD), Universal power input with active power factor correction 600W, Galvanic isolated user interface control with printed membrane keypad and LED display, Electronics Hardware and firmware FMEA, UL, CSA and CE standards testing and compliance.
